Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a non-invasive technique that uses specific wavelengths of light, usually red and near-infrared, to stimulate biological processes in the body. This process improves cellular function, promotes healing, reduces inflammation, and relieves pain. PBM works by penetrating the skin and tissues, activating cellular activities such as increasing the production of ATP (the energy currency of cells), improving tissue repair, and increasing blood flow.
Kinesiologic tape is an elastic bandage commonly used in plastic surgery, known for its support and stabilization properties during the post-operative period. This technique not only helps maintain mobility and reduce complications after surgery, but also provides several benefits to patients, such as support and pain relief. In addition, the application of kinesiologic tape helps to control and minimize edema (swelling) and prevent bruising. It also helps reduce the risk of fibrosis.
Our Manual Lymphatic Drainage service uses gentle hand movements to activate the lymphatic system, facilitating the drainage of retained fluids through the kidneys for faster elimination. This reduction in swelling not only improves surgical outcomes, but also provides immediate pressure relief to the affected areas, reducing patient discomfort.
